About Sky

When I was in high school, dealing with lifelong chronic illness and accompanying depression, I felt helpless. Armed with a post-it note pad and a Sharpie, I went out into the world with a mission to spread positivity. I would leave little notes on mirrors — “you are enough,” “you are loved,” etc. — wherever I went. Looking back on it recently, my first instinct was to feel embarrassed. But my second instinct was to realize that this was preparing me, without me knowing, for the creation of Chronic Positivity.

I have been feeling sick for as long as I can remember. I had headaches so bad that I couldn’t finish my schoolwork, had nausea and vertigo that would impact normal outings to the mall, and had incredible pain and fatigue after simply running in the park. My family and I knew something wasn’t right, but we didn’t know what. We went through the whole circus of doctors many times over. I had a diagnosis of fibromyalgia when I was fourteen, a diagnosis of PCOS and endometriosis in my teens, and a diagnosis of IBS in my twenties. It took until I was twenty-five to finally be diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a new development which I am still actively uncovering.

My health is a constant process, but in the midst of all that, I also love to create original characters, read exciting fiction, and play Sims 4. I live in Colorado with my amazing family (who often suggest ideas for my Chronic Positivity posts).
